Parks & Recreation Month

Every park has a history made up of thousands of stories that help to define it.  This July, the National Recreation and Park  Association is asking communities across the country to share their Park and Recreation Story.

Parks are at the center of so many experiences and memories.  Our local parks are often our first experiences in nature, our introduction to a favorite hobby or physical activity.  They are places to gather with friends and family, spaces to celebrate, spots of respite and healing, sites that connect us with essential community services, and so much more.

For us at the Watsonville Parks and Community Services Department, it is the beginning of our Park and Rec Story.  Forty-eight years ago, in 1973, the City officially established our recreation department to the community and in 2021, we want to use Parks and Recreation Month to celebrate where it all started.  So this July, we want to hear our community's stories about Watsonville Parks & Community Services, and what makes it special to you and your family.

Share memories and photos of first sports games, past camp experiences, your special events at our parks or facilities and more.

This July, share your Parks & Rec stories using the following hashtags:

#OurParkAndRecStory #MyWatsonvilleParkStory #JulyIsParkAndRecreationMonth #ParksMakeLifeBetter #watsonvillepcs

Stay tuned in July for a chance to win prizes and giveaways as we celebrate Parks & Recreation month with fun games, special events and challenges.
