The City of Watsonville will be holding a Special Municipal Election on June 5, 2018. The nomination period took place between March 7, 2018 and March 14, 2018, to fill the vacancy in District 2. Those interested in running need to be registered to vote in District 2 (see map).
Note: In order to qualify to run, the candidate needs to submit a nomination paper with 20 valid signatures of registered voters from District 2.
Pursuant to the City of Watsonville Charter Section 403, in order for a person to be nominated for the office of Council Member, she/he must be a resident and a registered qualified voter of this City and the District of the City or of territory which the person seeks to represent thirty (30) days before the opening date for the filing of nomination papers.
All Candidates for state and local offices are required to file campaign disclosure statements at established dates before the election. The City Clerk's Office is in charge of administering Municipal Elections, which are consolidated with the Santa Cruz County Elections Department. The City's Municipal Election will be held on November 6, 2018, together with the General Gubernatorial Election.
Nomination period for the November 6, 2018, opens July 16, 2018, and closes August 10, 2018.
