Shelter-in-Place

Overview

With the ammonia refrigeration plants, as well as occasional use of toxic fumigants in the berry production on farms in the Watsonville area, the real possibility exists for an airborne chemical release that would call for our community to "Shelter-in-place." What is Shelter-in-place? Shelter-in-place means selecting an interior room or rooms in your home or workplace with no or few windows and taking refuge there.
