Special Events

The Special Events Division is responsible for:
  • processing special event applications;
  • organizing the annual Spirit of Watsonville 4th of July Parade; and
  • organizing the annual Watsonville Strawberry Festival.

Special Event Permits
  • A special event permit is required for events that:
  • use city property such as streets, parks, buildings, etc.
  • are open to the public; and or 
  • have entertainment: singing, dancing, DJ, Choir, etc; and or
  • use sound amplification such as a micro-phone, stereo; and or 
  • that are a parade, march or procession, and or
  • require street closures or will impact traffic.

To apply for a special event permit, submit a completed Special Event Application found below and return it to the Parks and Community Services Department customer service office at 231 Union St. Watsonville, 95076 or email it to Israel.tirado@cityofwatsonville.org.

Earth Day/Day of the Child 
Learn what you can do to protect the environment and celebrate the children in our community. 

Spirit of Watsonville 4th of July Parade  
Be a part of the largest parade in Watsonville as a participant or a spectator.

Watsonville Strawberry Festival
Enjoy scrumptious strawberry treats, a variety of live entertainment, a family friendly carnival and delicious food at the largest event in downtown Watsonville.

Wings Over Watsonville 
Learn about all the Watsonville Municipal has to offer and its impact on the community.

Monterey Bay Birding Festival 
This annual event features bird watching trips throughout the Monterey Bay Area, workshops, speakers and a Birder’s Marketplace.
Holiday in the Plaza
Held on the first Sunday in December, this event features the Watsonville Multicultural Celebration and the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony.
