Santa Cruz County Moves to COVID-19 Purple tier

Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Santa Cruz County has moved back into the purple tier.

Santa Cruz County has moved into the Purple Widespread Tier (effective 11/17/20)

Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases locally and throughout the state, Santa Cruz County will be moving back into the widespread purple tier effective immediately. Santa Cruz County is one of 41 counties in the purple tier, encompassing the vast majority of California’s population.


To recap, the Purple Tier major restrictions effective today for Santa Cruz County below: 

  • Restaurants - outdoor only
  • Retail - 25% Indoor capacity
  • Bars closed (those serving food, follow restaurant guidelines)*
  • Hotels open, but no access to pools or gyms, other modifications may apply.*
  • Fitness clubs - outside only
  • No indoor gatherings
  • Hair salons and barber shops open with modifications*
