Dear Community of Watsonville,
It is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement after more than 30 years in public service. It has been a privilege and honor to serve you, the City of Watsonville, with some of the finest men and women in law enforcement.
For the past five years, I have witnessed how the community has worked alongside us during some of the most challenging times. I leave knowing we’ve created strong community relationships with a solid foundation to tackle the challenges before us.
My last official workday as Chief of Police will be July 1, 2021. We have a plan in place to ensure the department continues to move forward. During this transitional period, the City Manager will appoint Assistant Chief Sims to serve as Interim Police Chief until a permanent replacement is identified. Over the coming weeks, I’m committed to working with the City Manager and my command staff to ensure a smooth transition.
Although this is the end of an amazing chapter in my life, I look forward to what’s next.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Chief of Police. It has been a tremendous honor.

Es con emociones encontradas que anuncio mi jubilación después de más de 30 años trabajando en el servicio público. Ha sido un privilegio y un honor servirle a la Ciudad de Watsonville, junto con algunos de los mejores hombres y mujeres que trabajan en el servicio del orden público.
Durante los últimos cinco años, he sido testigo de cómo la comunidad ha trabajado junto con el Departamento de Policía durante algunos de los momentos más difíciles de nuestra era. Me voy sabiendo que hemos creado relaciones comunitarias sólidas con una base fuerte para abordar los desafíos que tenemos ante nosotros.
Mi último día como Jefe de Policía será el 1 de julio de 2021. Contamos con un plan para garantizar que el departamento continúe avanzando. Durante este período de transición, el Administrador de la Ciudad nombrará al Asistente Jefe de Policía, Thomas Sims, como Jefe de Policía Interino hasta que se identifique un reemplazo permanente.
Durante las próximas semanas, me comprometo a trabajar con el Administrador de la Ciudad y mi personal de comando para garantizar una transición sin problemas.
Aunque este es el final de un increíble capítulo de mi vida, espero con ansias el próximo capítulo.
