Meet our new Downtown Police Officer

Juan Bribiesca - downtown officer

Officer Bribiesca will provide community oriented, pro-active police enforcement efforts in the downtown area.

Officer Bribiesca is assigned to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).  He will provide community oriented, pro-active police enforcement efforts in the downtown area.

Some of Officer Bribiesca’s goals are to develop a strong working relationship with other city departments; community based organizations, the downtown library and businesses owners.

Officer Bribiesca will be overtly visible and available to the downtown community and may work on foot or on a bicycle.  His assignment will require that he not respond to regular calls for police service. Rather, Officer Bribiesca will focus on long term projects which impact the quality of life and require specialized attention.

The down-town problems will be identified by the voice of the community, business owners and Officer Bribiesca.  In an effort to eradicate and interrupt criminal behavior; he will have the ability to utilize other department resources such as the CARE unit, Special Investigations Unit (SIU), the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team, the Auto Theft Task Force and the WPD Investigations bureau.   Officer Bribiesca will also be available for educational police workshops in the downtown region.
