Catch the Rain: Using a Rain Barrel to Harvest Valuable Water

rain barrel

Take advantage of the generous rain barrel rebate provided by Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency. Residents in Watsonville & unincorporated areas of the Pajaro Valley are eligible to receive up to a $750.00 rebate on a catchment barrel.

Public Works’ environmental communications staff are encouraging our residents to take advantage of the generous rain barrel rebate provided by our partner, Pajaro Valley Water rain catchment barrelManagement Agency. Residents in Watsonville and unincorporated areas of the Pajaro Valley are eligible to receive up to a $750.00 rebate on purchasing a catchment barrel. Collecting rainwater from roofs, gutters and other surfaces to save for later use is easy. While the harvested rainwater is not drinking water quality, it can be used to water gardens and landscapes throughout the drier seasons of the year.

Harvesting rainwater also minimizes the amount of water that runs throughout our streets into the stormdrain system, which flows untreated into our wetlands, rivers and beaches. This water is too precious to waste, and encouraging our Watsonville residents to capture it will save them money and improve our environmental quality during the winter season.

For more information, call the PVWMA office at 831-722-9292 or complete a rain barrel rebate form online.
