The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), acting as the solid waste Enforcement Agency (EA) for Santa Cruz County, will be holding this public information meeting to consider a revised SWFP for the City of Watsonville Landfill.  The proposed changes at the facility include an increase in final elevation to 339 feet, including the final cover, to accommodate final closure of the Phase III cell, and update the SWFP to reflect the total design capacity.

On August 16, 2018, the EA accepted the application for a revised SWFP submitted by the City of Watsonville Department of Public Works and Utilities. The EA’s preliminary determination is that the proposed change is a significant change and requires a SWFP revision.  A copy of the application and supporting documentation are available for public review during regular business hours at the EA’s office referenced above.

The public information meeting is to provide information to the public and for any interested parties to provide comments on the EA’s proposed action for a revised SWFP.  If you would like to comment on this project you may do so at the meeting or you may send your written comments to the EA as provided above. For information on the appeals process pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 44307 after the decision to issue or deny the permit revision, you may contact the EA as provided above.
