It took less than 3 minutes for officers to respond

It took less than 3 minutes for our dayshift officers to respond to reports of a fire and pull several people out of a burning home at about 2 p.m. today (12/11/18).  They didn’t have an exact address, but they followed the smoke until they got to the 200 block of Ford Street. Photo-1 (8)

Once on scene, our officers split up and took control of the chaotic situation. They found the home that was on fire and evacuated the four people who were inside.

While all that was happening, other WPD officers began traffic control to clear the area for the fire engines. Photo-2 (2)

Luckily, no one was hurt and Watsonville Fire was able to put out the flames quickly.  WFD is still investigating the cause of the fire.
