Summer in the City Internship Program

This unique program gives incoming juniors and seniors enrolled in a PVUSD high school an inside look of the inner-workings of local government, while preparing them to enter into the work force.

The Summer in the City program is a partnership between the City of Watsonville and the Pajaro Valley Unified School District to provide incoming high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to gain career ready skills, foster interest in leadership and civic matters, and create a voice for youth to address real city issues. We will select a total of 21 students to participate in the program. Students must be enrolled in a Pajaro Valley Unified School District High School to participate.

Program Details:
  • 3 week internship (Monday-Friday: June 17th - July 5th) 
  • Program:  9 am - 12 pm | Internship: 1 pm - 5 pm
  • $500 Stipend
  • 2.5 elective credits
  • Transportation will be provided (if needed)

Application Requirements:

Applicant must submit a fully completed application and ALL requested information by mail (no postmarks accepted), email, online or in person. 

The following must be enclosed with the application:

  • One letter of recommendation (teacher, guidance counselor, school administrator, or faith based leader);
  • A one-page essay (3 questions); copy of school issued identification card. 
  • Enrollment at a Pajaro Valley Unified School District high school will be verified. 
  • Applications if mailed must be received, emailed, submitted online, or dropped off in person by Friday, May 3, 2019 by 5:00 p.m.
